How To Make Date Paste and Use as a Natural Sweetener

Did you know that you can pretty much substitute granulated sugar in any recipe for Date Paste?! AND Date Paste works as a sugar substitute if you are on the Whole 30 diet, Paleo diet or a sugar-free diet. It can also be a good sweeter for people with diabetics as the balance of fiber with the already low glycemic index does not cause a large spike in blood sugar levels like white sugar does (please consult with your doctor if you are diabetic to make sure that Dates are safe for your particular health).

The sweetness of Dates can scare some dieters off but Dates actually have so many health benefits that the sweetness is not snubbed by many of the dieting trends since the sugar that is found in Dates is natural, unprocessed sugar that, when combined with the fiber found in Dates, provides your body with long-lasting energy that won’t lead to a crash. In addition, Dates are filled with vitamins and minerals that keep your body happy and healthy!

What we love about Date Paste is that it is quick and simple to make. You only need two ingredients, and one of them is water! Today we are going to teach you how simple it is to create this delicious sugar substitute so that you can have it on hand at all times!

How To Make Date Paste
Soak the Organic Medjool Dates in a bowl of water for 2 hours or up to one day, or in boiling water for 10 minutes (this helps to soften the Dates)

Drain the water, remove the pits from the dates and add your dates and water to a food processor or blender.

B
lend the Dates and water making sure to periodically stop to scrape the sides to ensure everything is blended well. Add water as needed to smooth out the mixture.

Add to your recipe to substitute for sugar or pour the Paste into an airtight container and store in the fridge (use 1 cup of date paste to substitute 1 cup of sugar). Enjoy!

If you are using it as a substitute for maple syrup use a 2:1 ratio where you double the amount of Date Paste per required amount of maple syrup.
